Men’s fashion has undergone a sea of change and it keeps changing for better. Modern man is more conscious of how he presents himself, what he wears is more important today in comparison with earlier generations.
Media boom is largely responsible for the importance of how men look, dress and present. Men’s fashion used to be a luxury, limited to elitist men because being fashionable was an expensive affair. Following fashion trends was not for everyone. The field was ruled by, or denoted by the film stars, aristocrats, politicians, industrialists who made fashion statements in men’s fashion. Presently the scenario has changed dramatically and today a common man also keeps abreast with changing fads in the men’s fashion world.
This change where a common man can don the latest fashion apparels is due to a sort of democratization that today’s designers and manufacturers uphold. They come up with clothes that can be purchased by all classes of society. Therefore, while there are brands which cater to the upper classes, there are also brands that are available for the middle and lower ranks of the society.
The evolution in men’s fashion trends is however not the natural following. The main reason why men have become fashion conscious is due to non-stop media exposure. The gamut of advertisements panders to the subconscious; that wearing a certain type or trend in clothing and in accessories is to belong. Conform, or you’re ‘it’. Naturally, every man irrespective of age wants to dress up like his idol does.
What doesn’t matter is whether it is a movie star or a sportsperson. What matters is the style that he carries or follows. The entire scope of fashion covers hairstyles, tattooing and accessories. In contrast to the earlier times where men never gave much thought to what they wore, today’s men are fashion conscious and spend a lot of time being fashion conscious. Awareness levels have risen, giving rise to tides of consumerism, and sending economies soaring.

Other areas which were formerly considered women’s privileges, and initially patronized by Gay Men, are firmly part of men’s’ world today. The glaring example is men’s beauty parlors specializing in manicures and pedicures and Spas and all such treatments. No matter which strata of society the man may belong to, keeping up with the latest fashion has become very important as it is seen as a reflection of the personality.
Naturally, men’s fashion is booming business and provides ample space for designers, clothes manufacturers, tattoo designers, spas, parlors, etc. All of these cater to the needs of the modern man who is willing to spend time and money to keep up with the changing trends so that he too is part of the parade. Ultimately, a well-groomed personality makes heads turn.
